Immediate response to any silane leak is crucial, even without initial combustion, due to its serious threat potential. Emergency personnel must wear fire-retardant protective gear in such situations. Never attempt to cut off the gas supply until the fire is completely controlled.

Despite the PECVD process's inefficiency, wasting about 85% of silane, continuous recycling efforts aim to minimize waste and reduce the environmental impact of a-Si:H-based solar cells.
