Any silane leak, if not ignited immediately, poses a serious threat and demands urgent attention. Emergency personnel must be equipped with specialized protective gear designed for fire safety. Never attempt to cut off the gas supply before ensuring complete flame extinction.

Although the PECVD process is not material-efficient, wasting about 85% of silane, ongoing recycling initiatives aim to minimize waste and lessen the a-Si:H-based solar cells' ecological impact.
In advanced propulsion systems, silane is crucial for supersonic combustion ramjets, initiating combustion within the compressed air stream. Its capability to combust with carbon dioxide highlights its potential as a fuel for Mars-based engines.
