Silane is a colorless gas that reacts with air, releasing a potent and choking smoke. When silane encounters air, it ignites, producing a vivid white amorphous silica smoke. The significant health risk comes from its spontaneous combustion, which can lead to severe, potentially fatal burns. Should the flame or intense heat reach a part of the silane cylinder before the valve, an explosion may occur. Additionally, rapid or high-pressure silane discharge can trigger a delayed explosion. Any silane leak without immediate combustion poses a grave threat and must not be ignored. Personnel managing emergencies must wear suitable protective gear tailored for fire safety. Never attempt to cut off the gas supply before the flames are completely extinguished.

Silane gas is a colorless, toxic, and flammable substance with an irritating garlic-like odor.
